NEW YORK, N.Y. — Emmy Award-winning journalist and author José Martínez participated in National Puerto Rican Day Parade Weekend festivities in New York City following an invitation from the Nassau County Office of Hispanic Affairs and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.
Martínez joined community leaders, advocates, and attendees at the Puerto Rican Heritage Brunch and later participated in the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in Manhattan, one of the nation’s largest celebrations of Puerto Rican culture and heritage.
A longtime member of New York’s media and Latino communities, Martínez maintains strong ties to New York City and Long Island, where he spent years building his journalism career and establishing lasting relationships through his reporting and community engagement efforts.
“New York will always be one of the places that shaped me personally and professionally,” Martínez said. “Participating in Puerto Rican Day Parade Weekend and celebrating alongside community leaders and friends was incredibly meaningful. The parade is a powerful reminder of the pride, diversity, and sense of community that make New York so special.”
The National Puerto Rican Day Parade draws hundreds of thousands of participants and visitors to Manhattan each year and serves as one of the nation’s largest celebrations of Puerto Rican culture, history, and contributions to American life.
Martínez currently serves as a reporter and anchor at WFMZ-TV 69 News in Pennsylvania and is the founder of VOZ NYC, an independent media and publishing platform dedicated to storytelling, culture, and community engagement.
