José Martínez to Present Your English is Great, But… at the 19th Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens

Jackson Heights, NY — Emmy Award–winning journalist and author José Martínez will present his debut book, Your English is Great, But…, at the 19th Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens, New York, taking place October 10–12, 2025 at the Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights.

Martínez will appear on Saturday, October 11 at 3:10 p.m., alongside fellow authors Miguel Fálquez-Certain and Leslies Farrán, to share readings and reflections on identity, language, and community.

“This presentation is especially meaningful to me because it’s happening in Jackson Heights,” said Martínez. “This neighborhood is filled with memories of my own journey — growing up here and connecting with the community as a reporter for El Diario and NY1 Noticias. To now return and present my book in this space feels like coming full circle.”

Your English is Great, But… is Martínez’s most personal work to date — a memoir-essay collection reflecting on language, migration, grief, and belonging. Published under his independent imprint VOZ NYC, the book has been featured in literary circles and community conversations around identity and heritage.

The Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens, organized by the Hispanic/Latino Cultural Center of New York, celebrates its 19th year in 2025. The event brings together writers, poets, scholars, and community members for three days of panels, readings, and cultural performances. This year’s fair is dedicated to Dominican writer Dagoberto López-Coño.
