After two impactful years reporting for CBS News in San Francisco, Emmy Award-winning journalist José Martínez is making an exciting return to WFMZ-TV, the station that launched some of the most defining moments of his career. Beginning February 3rd, Martínez will anchor and report on primetime shows for 69 News, delivering the thoughtful, impactful journalism viewers have come to expect – this time in both English and Spanish.
“It feels incredible to be back,” said Martínez. “WFMZ isn’t just a station for me – it’s where my passion for storytelling truly flourished. I’ve had the honor of winning two Emmys here, but more importantly, I’ve had the chance to connect with a community that’s inspired me every step of the way. I can’t wait to get back in the anchor chair and out in the field, sharing stories that matter to the people who matter most.”

Martínez has spent the last two years sharpening his storytelling skills on the West Coast, reporting character-driven pieces that tackled local, state, and national issues. Now, he’s bringing that experience – and his trademark energy – back to the Lehigh Valley, ready to take WFMZ’s primetime programming to the next level.
“What excites me most about coming back is the opportunity to dig into the stories that define us as a community,” Martínez added. “Whether it’s breaking news, a human-interest piece, or a bilingual report that brings people together, I’m here to create a connection and ensure that every viewer feels seen, heard, and informed.”

Martínez’s return marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for WFMZ. With his expertise in bilingual reporting and his passion for delivering authentic, impactful journalism, Martínez is committed to elevating WFMZ’s programming and connecting with viewers across cultural and linguistic lines.
